The MFA Monthly is published by USPOCO BOOKS in conjunction with ManuFactured Artists, a co-op of writers working for writers.
We produce pocket-sized poetry books that bring poetry off the shelf and into people’s hands. Each edition contains one essay, one story, and work from one poet. The story, essay, and poetry together create a conversation. Our publications do not include bios or contributor notes because we allow the writing to represent itself without bias. Each pocket-sized conversation centers around a political theme. Amiri Baraka once reported that “Freedom of the press means that we are free to become the press.” Each edition becomes the press by providing a conversation about a current political issue.
See our submissions page for information about submitting to our current issue, #BlackLivesMatter.
